Matthew 1:23

"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" which means "God with us"

Services over Advent and Christmas

When you look at the life of Jesus, you will notice that there were many pre-planned stops, rather as a train might stop at a station. The life of Jesus was not a random matter; its route was described by the Old Testament prophets from start to finish. Matthew in particular, throughout his gospel, has a habit of ticking off the events that fulfil this or that prophecy.

For instance:
Matthew 1.22 - All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel.
The fulfilment in that case of words given to King Ahaz by the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah Chapter 7 verse 14.

The Christian calendar through Advent to Christmas onto Easter then through to Pentecost is a sort of map of those stops. Those “Stations on the Journey".

At Easter in particular we concentrate on the “Stations of the Cross”
But as Advent unfolds there is another set of stopping points, and we could call them “The Stations of the Crib”

If you take the time to study those stopping places. God will show you the good places to stop on your own journey to your destiny. Over Advent we will be looking at these important “Stations of the Crib”.

We would love you to come to any of our services.
Just walk in and there will be a welcome and a place for you.

May God bless you and give you His light and His joy this Christmas.

David Shaw (minister)
